Swimming at Les-Stables
The Pool
Pride of place in terms of the sports facilities may be argued by many to be the new 25 metre pool which is but a stones throw from the main complex. Set into the hillside it offers beautiful views down to the meadows on the outskirts of Valeuil and with sole use given to the residents of Les-Stables you wont have to share the pool or the pool time with a hoard of other tourists and so can concentrate on perfecting your own technique without having to fight your way through the throng.
With set coaching sessions throughout your stay, you can benefit from some expert tuition and can then return to the pool in your own time either to perfect your stroke or just to relax and cool down after a long days training. Either way the setting is absolutely perfect for enticing you back day after day.
Open Water
Whilst without doubt the pool is located in one of the most picturesque settings you are ever likely to find one, for those who perhaps prefer to dip their toes into open water, we would have to contest that perhaps the 500 meters of private river frontage that delineates the edge of private estate in which Les-Stables situated is perhaps somewhat more special since it is by essence the most perfect natural feature for open water swimming.
The Dronne is a slow winding river perfect for both experienced and novice swimmers with shallow banks and a deep middle and it is not unknown for visitors to Les-Stables to swim to the kilometer to Bourdeilles and get out to have breakfast in a local café before swimming back.
Either way, provisions by both nature and nurture means swimming is a delight at Les Stables and is an experience you won’t forget easily.
